Voice Prompt Scripts Near and Far

Guest Blog contributed by Scripts Consultant Megan Andriulli

When I tell people I work from home I am surprised at how amazed they are.

“What do you do?” they ask.

It’s 2010 – doesn’t everyone work on a computer?  I could see if I were a teacher, or butcher, baker or candlestick maker, but so much of our non-work lives revolve around remote technology, so why is this so shocking? I have a computer and a telephone: that’s an office – minus the water cooler.

The same goes for our voice talents: though many have home studios, they also strike a balance by coming into Holdcom to record voice messages, voice prompts, and messages on hold.

I work from home because I’m also taking care of my children – a 3 ½ year old and a 15 month old.  Day care wasn’t an option – personally and financially - so my bosses helped create this ideal compromise, and it’s been successful. I’ve been working this way at Holdcom for over 9 years.

My Holdcom working hours are not traditional, but I feel the situation has definitely made me a better worker.  Clients and voice talents just love seeing the crazy times at which I send emails.  But at the end of the day, I’m the one who puts the peanut butter (no jelly for this toddler) on the sandwich and takes care of my clients’ need that day!
